Budgets & cost
Budgets cap spend by scope. Costs are the recorded ledger of what ran. Both live on the Economics page.
Budgets
A budget sets a limit, in one currency, for a period — a day, a week, a month or in total — on a scope:
the whole organisation, a workspace, a team, an agent, a workflow, a single run or a person.
How a hard budget stops work
Before spend happens, TaskGate reserves the amount against every budget on the scope chain — say, the agent's budget, its workspace's and the organisation's. If any hard budget on that chain would be exceeded, the reservation is refused and the work does not go ahead. A budget in a different currency from the spend is never silently converted; the reservation is refused instead.
Costs
Every cost is recorded in a ledger by category: model, tool, runtime, storage, evaluation, human review and human correction. Each entry is marked as measured or estimated.
Outcomes and value
Outcomes and baselines record what the work achieved. The value report sets cost and accepted outcomes side by side — with every caveat stated, never a causal ROI claim.
